What do I need to do to prepare for my appointment?
The day of, thoroughly exfoliate all areas of your body to remove the top dead layer of skin. It’s also a good idea to shave your legs. This will ensure your tan lasts as long as possible.

Also, do not apply any lotions, oils or perfumes the day of the appointment and remove all make-up and jewelry. These products will reduce the absorption of the tanning solution.

Wear an old, dark bathing suit during the application and drying time. After you’re dry, put on dark, old loose fitting clothing. Tight clothes have a tendency to rub the solution off of your skin and onto your clothes, leaving a spotty tan. Wait four to six hours before engaging in any vigorous activities, such as swimming, exercising, or showering.

What kind of aftercare do I need?
Avoid activities that will cause you to sweat or put your skin in contact with water, such as exercising or showering, for at least four to six hours after your Golden Sol tan has been applied. Also avoid applying oils, lotions, makeup or other similar products during this time. This allows the solution adequate time to interact with the amino acids in the top layers of your skin.

After that initial four to six hour waiting time, hydrate your skin. Your tan will last longer if the skin is hydrated. Avoid hot showers and baths, as well as excess rubbing of the skin. Products to avoid are: a loofah or scrub mitt, wax hair removal, anti-acne products that exfoliate, body hair bleach products, facial masks, exfoliating scrubs, bar soaps, band aids or adhesive tape.

You can shave the next day, but be sure to use a clean, sharp razor. Applying hair conditioner first will help the razor glide. After a shower or bath, pat skin dry; do not rub.
